ARCHITECTURAL MOULDINGS,
MILLWORK & TRIM

GREAT ARCHITECTURE SHOULD BE FINISHED WITH EXACTING SPECIFICATIONS AND UNCOMPROMISING CRAFTSMANSHIP.

E. F. San Juan is a custom architectural millwork, mouldings and cabinetry company based in Youngstown, Florida. We make custom wood building products for residential and commercial projects across the Southeastern Coastal US, and we work with architects, contractors and homeowners. We have produced architectural millwork since 1976. Our published projects include homes designed by Robert A.M. Stern, Khoury Vogt Architects, Curtis & Windham, Kinneymorrow Architecture and Jeffrey Dungan, in places from Seaside and Alys Beach to Tallahassee and Mountain Brook, Alabama.

This page is for architects, builders and interior designers specifying fine mouldings, paneling and custom woodwork for residences where the details carry the design. That means profiles drawn for one house, rooms paneled in solid wood, curved work, and exterior wood that has to last on the coast.

What we make, and what we supply

Made in our plant:

  • custom mouldings and trim
  • wall and ceiling paneling
  • box beams and coffered ceilings
  • cabinetry and built-ins
  • custom wood doors, including our Invincia® impact-rated doors
  • stair parts
  • exterior gates, shutters and screens

Supplied through partners:

  • impact-rated windows and large door systems from manufacturers such as Loewen, Weather Shield and Euro-Wall
  • columns, stair parts and other components from manufacturers we represent

We can coordinate casings, trim, doors, paneling and cabinetry with the windows selected for the house.

Profiles drawn for the house

Profiles can come from our collection, be modified from it, or be created new for a project. Architects and interior designers can request access to download complimentary DXF and PDF files from our Master Profile Collection. Many existing and historic profiles can be reproduced from an accurate sample, drawing, template or field measurement.

For Wooden Classicism, a Robert A.M. Stern house in Seaside, each room had its own moulding and paneling profile. Producing the tools took more than 400 labor-hours of knife grinding. For a penthouse on Choctawhatchee Bay, we ground moulding knives specifically for that project’s baseboard and casing.

Paneled rooms, ceilings and libraries

An Idyllic Custom Home Retreat in Tallahassee was designed by Conn Architects. For it we supplied:

  • more than 12,000 feet of cypress millwork for walls and ceilings
  • African mahogany and cypress cabinetry, with the same boards continuing from drawer to drawer
  • library shelving with a ladder

At Alys Beach Serenity, designed by SHM Architects, pecky cypress box beams pair with tongue-and-groove paneling. The interior doors are character white oak with an inverse chevron panel.

Curved work

At In Surf We Trust in Seaside, designed by Curtis & Windham, the curved tongue-and-groove paneling was planned so each plank aligns with a stair riser through three floors. We did not allow plank width to vary by more than 5/1,000 of an inch. The concealed powder-room door under that stair curves in more than one direction and took more than 120 labor-hours to build.

At Aspri Villa in Alys Beach, we made custom interior trim to complement the home’s curves, including softly rounded ceilings and an arched tower. For Old-World Charm in Alabama in Mountain Brook, Alabama, the white oak newel for a curved stair was built with our stair parts partner, Oak Pointe. We then customized it by hand at our plant with a Gothic relief and a tapered radius section.

Exterior millwork

For Gulf-Front Grandeur in Alys Beach, designed by Khoury & Vogt Architects, we made ipe shutters, gates, fascia, soffit, custom columns and arched cased openings. Because ipe is dense and difficult to machine and glue, the gates and shutters were built with secondary and tertiary means of support in their joinery. At the Alys Beach home shown in Ipe Wood Materials, also designed by Khoury Vogt Architects, the exterior shutters are more than three inches thick.

For Kinneymorrow Architecture’s Contemporary Wooden Facade in Alys Beach, our engineering department worked out the fabrication details for Satina™ tropical hardwood screens that form parts of the facade, railings and courtyard gate.

How we work with architects

Bringing us in early lets us review drawings, flag coordination issues and recommend species or assemblies before details become difficult or costly to change.

For accurate pricing, we usually need:

  • drawings or sketches
  • dimensions and quantities
  • wood species
  • finish expectations
  • installation location
  • the desired delivery schedule

Depending on the product, project location and contracted scope, we can support a combination of design assistance, shop drawings, fabrication, finishing, delivery and installation. Those responsibilities are defined during estimating and preconstruction. Coordinating mouldings, doors, cabinetry, stair parts, paneling and ceilings through one millwork resource can improve consistency in profiles, species, reveals and finishes. Our team includes architect liaisons for Northwest Florida and for South Florida.

Our shop

Our 80,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse facility in Youngstown runs CNC routers, moulders, shapers and specialty machines. It was rebuilt after Hurricane Michael struck in late 2018. We stock more than 25 wood species, including character white oak, pecky cypress, black walnut, heart pine, African mahogany and ipe. Architects, builders and other construction professionals are welcome to tour the facility by appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for architects and builders specifying mouldings and millwork.

Why choose E.F. San Juan for architectural millwork in Florida and other coastal regions?2026-08-07T13:03:11-05:00

E.F. San Juan has been producing architectural millwork since 1976 and brings decades of firsthand experience with Florida’s demanding coastal conditions. That long regional history helps the team anticipate how material selection, fabrication, finishing, detailing, transportation, and installation can affect the appearance and service life of high-end millwork.

How long does custom moulding and millwork production take?2026-08-07T13:03:28-05:00

Lead time depends on design complexity, approvals, quantities, material availability, finishing, production workload, and delivery requirements. E.F. San Juan establishes a project-specific schedule after reviewing the scope and recommends early coordination for custom profiles, specialty species, curved work, and large millwork packages.

Why can two millwork quotations for the same project vary so widely?2026-08-07T13:03:49-05:00

Millwork quotations can reflect very different assumptions about wood grade, construction method, profile accuracy, moisture preparation, finishing, hardware, engineering, field verification, installation, and quality control. A lower price may not represent an equivalent product or scope, so proposals should be compared line by line with help from a seasoned specifier—not evaluated on total cost alone.

Does E.F. San Juan provide design assistance, shop drawings, fabrication, finishing, delivery, and installation?2026-08-07T13:04:12-05:00

E.F. San Juan can support a combination of these services, depending on the product, project location, and contracted scope. Responsibilities are defined during estimating and preconstruction so the architect, builder, owner, and millwork team understand who is responsible for design development, approvals, field verification, finishing, delivery, and installation.

What information is needed to price custom architectural millwork accurately?2026-08-07T13:04:31-05:00

Accurate pricing usually requires drawings or sketches, dimensions, quantities, wood species, finish expectations, installation location, and the desired delivery schedule. Complex profiles, curved work, matching requirements, specialty materials, field conditions, and installation responsibilities can all affect cost, so preliminary allowances should not be treated as final pricing.

Can architectural millwork be coordinated with doors, cabinetry, stairs, paneling, and other interior details?2026-08-07T13:04:44-05:00

Yes. Coordinating related components through one experienced millwork resource can improve consistency in profiles, wood species, reveals, finishes, and transitions throughout a project. Depending on scope, E.F. San Juan can assist with an integrated package that connects mouldings and trim with doors, cabinetry, stair parts, paneling, ceilings, and other custom features.

How is the right wood species selected for custom mouldings and exterior millwork?2026-08-07T13:05:06-05:00

The right species depends on the design, finish, exposure, dimensional stability, durability, availability, and budget required for the project. E.F. San Juan works with more than 25 premium wood species and helps clients compare grain, color, machining characteristics, and performance—especially when the millwork will be exposed to Florida humidity, salt air, rain, or intense sunlight.

Can E.F. San Juan reproduce an existing, historic, or discontinued moulding profile?2026-08-07T13:05:27-05:00

Yes, many existing profiles can be reproduced from an accurate sample, drawing, template, or field measurement. The required source information and tolerances depend on the profile and application, so E.F. San Juan reviews each replication request before confirming the production method, material, and achievable match.

Why should an architect, builder, or homeowner involve a millwork specialist early in the design process?2026-08-07T13:05:55-05:00

Early involvement helps align appearance, material performance, constructability, budget, and scheduling before details become difficult or costly to change. An experienced E.F. San Juan specifier can review drawings, identify coordination issues, recommend appropriate wood species or assemblies, and help translate the design into millwork that can be fabricated and installed successfully.

What architectural mouldings and millwork do you supply?2026-08-07T12:31:07-05:00

We provide custom architectural millwork solutions, including crown moulding, baseboards, casings, interior and exterior doors, columns, stair components, and specialty trim. Our offerings are curated to support high-end residential and light commercial projects.

What is the difference between standard moulding profiles and fully custom architectural millwork?2026-08-07T12:29:59-05:00

Standard profiles are established designs that can often simplify selection and production, while fully custom millwork is developed for a particular opening, detail, scale, or architectural concept. E.F. San Juan offers an extensive profile collection and can also modify an existing profile or create a new one to coordinate with the project’s drawings, proportions, and design intent.
