E. F. San Juan, a team of experts dedicated to their craft, created and installed custom shelving, butcher-block countertops, and tables throughout The Salty Butcher at Greenway Station in Seagrove Beach, Florida. Their unparalleled craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the design to the installation.
The Salty Butcher is an independent boutique butcher shop and wine bar specializing in quality meats, deli sandwiches, cheeses, wines, and other specialty products. Their offerings are locally sourced within Walton County, Florida, and beyond for the 30-A community. To showcase its exceptional products effectively, The Salty Butcher needed quality countertops and ample shelving throughout the shop. These fixtures would create clean and functional cutting surfaces and visually pleasing merchandise storage and displays while complementing the vintage interiors.
CHALLENGES
One of the significant challenges we faced in this project was installing the butcher-block counters. Ensuring perfect alignment throughout the space was a complex task requiring careful planning and execution. Selecting the right materials was crucial; certain wood grains are better suited for specific applications, and this site required heavy-duty materials that would not compromise aesthetic appeal. Overcoming these challenges showed our team’s problem-solving skills and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
SOLUTION
To achieve this, we designed long countertops that are integrated throughout the space. They are crafted in multiple sections to facilitate efficient delivery and installation. These sections were seamlessly connected using epoxy and floating tenon joinery to ensure a durable and seamless look that protects against wear and tear. Each segment was meticulously handcrafted and precisely aligned to guarantee flawless glue-ups.
We chose end-grain hard maple for the custom butcher-block tables and counters to reflect our commitment to quality. This material not only resists wear but also prolongs the lifespan of the surfaces. Its ability to absorb knife marks makes it an ideal choice for The Salty Butcher. Additionally, the installation of bent laminations, a unique feature of this project, enhanced the project’s unique features and created additional shelving space.
