For this coastal dream home located in the appropriately named Retreat community in Blue Mountain Beach, Florida, our team provided custom millwork that solidifies the property as being in a class of its own. With the custom beam layouts and custom mahogany window casings and doors by E. F. San Juan, the home evokes a nautical feel that effortlessly reflects the stunning surroundings.

CHALLENGES

The vast size of this home called for a significant amount of custom work to achieve a continuous look throughout each space. Not to mention the creativity required from the planning department to fulfill the original owners’ vision for a nautical-inspired home. The E. F. San Juan team welcomed the challenge and worked closely with Archiscapes and Gulfview Construction to ensure precise, beautiful wood accents perfectly fit each room and exterior space.

SOLUTION

Our team successfully created a nautical feel in the home through thoughtful design and the use of gorgeous dark-stained pecky cypress and rich mahogany elements. With masterful custom ceiling beam layouts in the great room, kitchen, gym area, and upper floor, the team brought warmth and dimension into the home while also complementing the furnishings and custom cabinetry.

More custom work included tall mahogany doors throughout the house and entryway. Additional Loewen mahogany interior windows, entries in the den area, an expansive 15′ x 9′ bi-folding door, and even a custom tongue-and-groove mahogany 18′ wide x 9′ tall garage door to tie in the facade brought everything together. As a result, the extensive home feels complete as the various custom features create a strong aesthetic and design continuity.

Every corner of the home connects back to the owners’ vision of a nautical feel. Notably, the suggestion to include old-time restoration float glass for interior transom windows brought this vision over the top. The specialized windows mimic the feel of looking through the window of an old ship and additionally connect the home to its coastal environment. The E. F. San Juan team thrives on bringing out the details, and this home was a testament to that.
