Known as the “Love Shack,” this unique modern home in the Camp Creek community of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, boasts stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico. Accenting those endless vistas are custom Loewen® windows and doors supplied by E. F. San Juan.
CHALLENGES
As with any Gulf-front property, this custom home is subject to the salt air, high winds, and other harsh environmental elements that accompany such a spectacular location on the beach. All exterior windows and doors needed to be safe and secure, holding up to these conditions without sacrificing looks. Architect Gary Justiss and the homeowner, Elton B. Stephens (founder of Alys Beach), desired a modern, sleek beach house with great views from nearly every space. Situated high on the dunes, this meant the wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling exterior windows and doors had to be impact-rated and exceptionally beautiful.
SOLUTION
E. F. San Juan worked very closely with Gary Justiss and the builder, Peter Horn III of Artisan of Seagrove, Inc., to source custom exterior windows and doors that not only look great but will withstand the high winds and rains that could come off the Gulf. We worked with our partners at Loewen®, based in Steinbach, Canada, to create a beautiful array of LiftSlide doors for the Gulf side of the home. These multi-panel, impact-rated glass doors slide to fully open up the living area to the pool deck, rooftop sundeck, and gorgeous Gulf views, creating authentic indoor-outdoor living spaces throughout the home. We also sourced and installed Loewen® windows around the exterior, including a porthole-style window and large single-pane windows in the tower lounge. While the interior windows and glass door to the garage are not Loewen®, they complement the impact-rated exterior products and create a unique effect to showcase the homeowner’s vintage vehicle!
